A message of love inspired today's Valentine, or Bálint Day
According to another story related to the legend, Saint Valentine himself fell into the trap of love as a prisoner. He fell in love with the jailer's blind daughter, but their love was never consummated. On the day of Saint Valentine's execution - February 14, which was also a pagan fertility holiday - he sent his love a farewell letter, on which he simply wrote: "From your Valentine".
Saint Valentine - although he was a priest who died a martyr's death, was not officially canonized, but in 496 the pope ordered that Saint Valentine be remembered on this day instead of the pagan holiday. Thus, this day became the day of love messages, and then the day of lovers, and Saint Valentine became the patron saint of lovers.
